1und1: Use your own router - you have to consider that
You do not have to use the specified router with 1und1, but instead can use your own router if required. In this practical tip, we will tell you what you should pay attention to.
Use your own router at 1und1 - all information
- First, make sure that the router supports the technology you have chosen. For example, newer standards such as VDSL or ADSL may no longer work on older models. For information on what exactly your router supports, see the user guide.
- When using WLAN, you should make sure that the router complies with the WLAN standard IEEE 802.11, otherwise connection problems may occur.
- If your router already supports the 5 GHz frequency band, you should also use this. Alternatively, your router must support the 2.4 GHz frequency band.
- Note: Before you actively start up the router, make sure that you are using the latest firmware. You can check this directly in the router in the settings.
