1und1: Set up a mail account in Thunderbird - how it works
Setting up a mail account in Thunderbird is quick and almost automatic. You also quickly set up the email account for hosting provider 1und1 in Thunderbird.
Retrieve 1und1 emails using Thunderbird
- After you have called up Thunderbird, click on your existing mail account and then go to the "Accounts" area on the right.
- Under "Accounts" under "Create a new account" select the option "Email".
- You can skip the subsequent request using the button "Skip and use my existing email address".
- Then it starts in the menu "Set up account". You enter your name - or what your communication partners should later see as senders. Then enter your 1und1 email address and the associated password and click on "continue".
- Thunderbird will then automatically search for the specified data in the database. Usually this works smoothly and you can complete the process with "Done".
- Before doing so, you should decide whether you want to access your emails via IMAP or POP. Both are possible with 1und1.
- You can make further modifications by clicking on "Manually edit". This also applies if, contrary to expectations, Thunderbird could not automatically create your 1 & 1 account.
