1und1: Set up incoming mail server and outgoing server
In order to use your 1und1 email account with an email program, you must first set up the incoming and outgoing server. You can find the right configurations here.
Set the incoming and outgoing server for the 1und1 email address
You can use either POP or IMAP as the account type. 1und1 recommends the IMAP type.
- In the linked practical tip you will find the differences between IMAP and POP3.
- Enter the address "imap.1und1.de" for the IMAP account type and "pop.1und1.de" for the POP account type.
- As the port for SSL, use "993" under IMAP and "995" under POP. Alternatively, you can also set the TLS / STARTTLS protocols. Here the ports for IMAP are "143" and for POP "110".
- The outgoing mail server (SMTP) has the address "smtp.1und1.de" under IMAP and POP.
- Set the port for SSL to "465".
- Use TLS / STARTTLS, enter "587" as the port or alternatively "25".
- Please note that you activate the "SMTP authentication" option for the outgoing mail server.
