Create and upload a 360-degree photo for Facebook - Here's how
Unlike 360-degree videos, you can create and upload 360-degree photos without special cameras for Facebook. We'll show you the options.
Supported devices for 360-degree photos on Facebook
- If you already have a suitable smartphone, you don't even need an additional app for the 360-degree photo. You can simply use the built-in panorama function in the photo app.
- As soon as a panorama photo has a recorded angle of more than 100 degrees, it will be recognized by Facebook. The image is then automatically converted to a 360-degree photo.
- At Samsung, the Galaxy S5, S6 and S7 support the panorama function. The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and 5 are also suitable.
- At Apple you need a reasonably current model. From the iPhone 4s and the iPad mini 2 you are there. The iPad Pro and iPad Air can of course also take panoramic photos.
Facebook: Take 360-degree photos with other smartphones
- Even if your smartphone does not have a panorama function, you can create the 360-degree images with any smartphone. Although this is less convenient, it also leads to a good result.
- All you need is a suitable app. Here you can access either Google Street View, Google Camera or Google Cardboard.
- But other companies have also developed apps for 360-degree photos. Ricoh Thea S for Android and Ricoh Theta S for iOS are also suitable.
Upload 360-degree photo to Facebook
Note: You can only post one 360-degree photo to Facebook at a time. If you select two pictures at a time, they will only be posted as panorama pictures.
- Open the Facebook app and tap the "Photo" item at the top to post the picture.
- Select the desired 360-degree photo from your gallery and tap "Done".
- Before you post it, you can still select the desired start picture.
- The 360-degree photo is uploaded to Facebook via the "Post" button.
