Watch 3D films on your PC - how it works
In order to watch films in 3D on your PC, you need the appropriate equipment. In this practical tip we will tell you what you need.
Watch films in 3D on a PC
- In order to be able to watch 3D films, you naturally need a 3D monitor or a 3D television. The connection should be made via HDMI cable.
- Depending on the model, you need polarizing glasses or shutter glasses to watch 3D content. This is partly supplied by the manufacturer when you purchase a monitor or television. Some models also work entirely without additional glasses. You can find detailed information on this in the operating instructions for your playback device or on the manufacturer's website.
- 3D BluRays can only be played with software that is compatible with AACS encryption. For this you need the PowerDVD 14 tool, which you can try out for free for 30 days. Alternatively, playback is also possible with WinDVD Pro.
- If there is a 3D movie as a file on your hard drive, you can play the movie with the VLC player - provided you have the appropriate hardware. Open the settings in the VLC Player under "Tools" and click on "Input / Codecs". Activate "Hardware Accelerated Decoding" here.
