Encrypt archive files in 7-Zip with a password
Install the 32-bit or 64-bit version of the program - depending on which CPU your computer has.
- Open 7-Zip and go to the directory where your file to be encrypted is located. Click on "Add". Alternatively, you can right-click on the file to be encrypted in Windows Explorer. Then choose "7-Zip" -> "Add to archive".
- In the opened window, enter "zip" as the archive format. Under "Encryption" type a password in the two fields and then click "OK".
- If you click on a file in the encrypted folder, you will be asked to enter a password.
- You can also unzip the whole folder. To do this, right-click on the archive file and select "Extract all". You will also be asked to enter a password. Alternatively, you can also use 7-Zip for unpacking. To do this, right-click on the folder and select "7-Zip" -> "Extract files ...". Enter your password in the opened window and click on "OK".
