8K TV: is there such a thing?
If you want to buy a new TV, you have the choice between HD and UHD (4K). We will tell you whether 8K is already being worked on and when the first TV sets with the even better resolution will appear.
8K TV: Future music or near reality?
- The first TVs with 8K resolution were presented at CES 2015. With 8K you get four times the resolution of 4K (UHD). This results in a resolution of 7680 × 4320 pixels.
- From a certain size of 4K TVs, even more pixels are needed to still display the 4K picture perfectly. 8K televisions already have a certain authorization.
- At the moment, however, this is still a long way off for normal users. Even 4K TVs are currently very expensive and can rarely be used sensibly.
- Video-on-demand services such as Netflix broadcast in 4K for an additional charge. However, you also need a comparatively fast Internet connection of at least 25 Mbit / s for this. Such a value is not always achieved even in large cities.
- The first 8K TVs are already on the market, but at astronomical prices. "Cheaper" models are expected from 2016. The mass suitability of 8K is likely to be a long time coming. Even 4K is too expensive and too rare for many users.
