ADAC route planner: the best tips
The ADAC route planner has many features. In order for you to be able to have your route calculated according to your wishes, however, a few pre-settings are required - such as vehicle type or route type. To help you find your way around ADAC Maps quickly, we have selected the four best tips for you. Compared to Google Maps, the route planner from the Allgemeine Deutsche Automobil-Club has several advantages: for example, the integration of current traffic information or important points on your route.
Adapt the route guidance to your requirements
Before you have your route calculated by the ADAC route planner, you should think about the following things: vehicle type, route type and whether you want to avoid certain roads such as toll roads.
- With the mobile pedestal, choose under "Route options" between car, motorcycle, team or motorhome.
- Then you decide whether you want to drive the fastest or shortest route. If you want to get to your destination quickly by car, choose the fastest route. The shorter route is often more fun with a motorcycle.
Current traffic information for DACH - Germany, Austria and Switzerland
The ADAC has a helpful feature for you when you are traveling long distances or on vacation. For the three Alpine countries, the route planner has all the latest traffic information, construction sites and roadblocks. So you can see in advance which routes you should avoid. You can search for an alternative route straight away and not reschedule in the traffic jam.
- In order for you to see this information, you have to check "Construction sites" and "Traffic announcements" in "Popular additional information along the route". In the route description you will find any traffic obstructions under the link "Route information".
Information about the countries visited
Different countries, different customs - this also applies to traffic regulations. When you go on vacation, you should inform yourself about the laws of the individual states. The ADAC route planner has all the information you need for every country you travel through. For Slovenia it is worth mentioning, for example, that you are only allowed to drive 90 kilometers an hour outside of town and that the dipped headlights must also be on during the day.
- All this information can be found in the route description under "Country information".
- You can find any toll or vignette costs under "Tolls and fees".
Find all POIs on your route with the ADAC route planner
You often need a break on longer journeys. But where is the best place for it?
- Under "Show info" you can see countless points of interest, which are then shown on the map. You will find, for example, petrol stations, sights, parking spaces for campers or ADAC branch offices.
