Enable administrator rights under Windows Vista
In Windows Vista, administrator rights are deactivated for security reasons. To be able to start some applications, you need these rights. To get this, you have the following options:
Activate administrator account under Windows Vista
Under Windows Vista, you can grant a user separate administrator rights. This is possible in computer management:
- Right-click on Computer -> Administration -> Local Users and Groups -> Users -> Right-click on Administrator -> Properties -> Remove the checkmark next to "Account is deactivated".
Enable administrator rights via the command line
Alternatively, you can also obtain administrator rights via "cmd.exe":
- Start "Run" -> Type "cmd" and confirm.
- Enter "net user Administrator / active" (replace "user" with user name!) And confirm with Enter. With this command you activate the administrator rights.
- To deactivate administrator rights, you need the following command: "net user Administrator / active: no" (replace "user" with user name!).
