The Adobe Acrobat error "The document could not be saved" appears irregularly in different versions of the PDF reader. The reason is that the file is displayed twice, which is why changes cannot be saved.
Adobe error "the document could not be saved"
- If the error message "The document could not be saved" appears in Adobe Acrobat, there is usually only one reason for this: The file is opened a second time. This prevents you from saving changes. Because if a document is displayed twice, a change to the document affects both open versions.
- You can only make a change and save if the file is only opened once. For this reason, you have to close the second version.
- In companies, two users can open a PDF file at the same time. Even if the file is read-only, this error message can appear. Then you have to remove the write protection.
- Often you don't even notice that a second version of the PDF file is open. Because this is often opened as a preview in Explorer. Therefore, close the Explorer where you opened the file before.
- Tip: If this happens to you more often, you can simply deactivate the preview. To do this, click on "View" in the Explorer and then on "Preview Window" in the top left corner. With a click on the button you can activate the preview and deactivate it with a second click.
