Adobe InDesign: Change column width - how it works
If you would like to change the column width of a text page in Adobe InDesign documents, we will be happy to help you. In our instructions, we show step by step where you can find the settings and how to proceed.
Change column width in InDesign documents
If you divide a page into several columns in InDesign, you will receive guidelines that are automatically blocked. This prevents InDesign from accidentally tearing your layout apart. If you want to change the column width, you must remove this lock:
- In the top menu bar of InDesign, click on "View" and then on the entry "Grid and guides".
- Then remove the checkmark at "Lock column guides".
- Now select the "Selection tool" (black mouse pointer) and move the column width.
- To prevent your columns from slipping again while you are working on the document, you can now lock the column guides again. To do this, follow the steps again (1).
