Adobe Lightroom: Organize photo library
You can use the Adobe Lightroom program to manage and organize your photo library. We show you how to keep track of a large number of pictures.
Create a Lightroom Smart collection
Smart collections let you sort images based on your metadata. If you always fill in the keyword field with data such as "animal" or "human" in the postprocessing, Lightroom then automatically sorts the images into a collection.
- Click the [+] sign under "Collections" on the left side of the screen. Now select "Create Smart Collection".
- In the next step, you can enter a name for your collection and set rules for it. For example, with the setting "Corresponds to everyone", "Other metadata" -> "Keywords" you can enter any one or more words in the text field. The smart collection will then automatically sort all images with the specified keywords.
- You can experiment with the fields and create more smart collections. For example, you could also create a collection for long exposures (more than 2 seconds) or simply sort all the images from a camera.
More tips on organizing pictures
Adobe Lightroom gives you a few more features to help you organize your pictures.
- With the ratings from 1 to 5 in the form of stars, you can quickly sort good pictures when viewing your pictures. This is particularly useful if you want to share pictures directly with people involved. The quickest way to do the evaluation is with the number keys 0 to 5.
- In addition to the stars, you can also mark pictures with colors. You can use the buttons 6-9 to assign a color to the pictures, for example to separate pictures of people from landscape pictures.
- You can sort out blurred or blurred images with the "X" button. The picture will be grayed out. When you delete all the pictures, Lightroom asks you two more times whether you really want to delete the pictures.
