Adobe Premiere: Create intro
In Adobe Premiere Pro you can create your own intro - for example for your website, your YouTube channel or similar. This practical tip shows you how to operate Premiere correctly.
Open Premiere, create a project and get started
Adobe Premiere is a paid program. You can download a 30-day trial version in our download area.
- Open Premiere and create a new project.
- When a "New Sequence" window opens, select HDV and HDV1080p25 so that your intro is ultimately in Full HD quality and is created at 25 frames per second.
- Premiere now shows its main window. With "File" and "Import" you can show all the pictures and videos you need one after the other.
Premiere's timeline - arrange your intro here
You can now arrange the imported images and videos in the so-called timeline (s, image). To do this, do the same for each image or video:
- Drag the file to the desired location on the timeline.
- You can shorten the clip by pulling the ends.
- If you want to play multiple clips at the same time, place them in overlapping tracks. The clip further up then covers the lower one.
- You can add a transition by right-clicking on the transition between two clips.
Adobe Premiere: Add intro title
You can also add titles, texts or other fonts in the timeline. These are then displayed there as separate clips. In those places where there is no writing, your clip remains transparent and you can see the trace underneath.
- Right-click on the Project Explorer on the left. Select "New Object" and "Title"
- Now drag the created title into the desired position in your timeline.
- Then double-click on the title. Now a window opens in which this can be edited. You can change the font, size, position, and more.
Moving intro with premiere: move clips and titles
Premiere also allows you to animate your clips or titles. To do this, you have to set keyframes. These are like markers that indicate when your clip is at what point.
- Go to the beginning of the clip you want to edit and double click on it in your timeline. You open this in the left preview window.
- This window has a "Effects Settings" tab at the top, which you must now switch to.
- Select movement here and click on the small stopwatch. This will add your first keyframe.
- Go to the place of the clip where you want the movement to end. This is usually at the end of the clip.
- Click the small diamond to add a second keyframe.
- Now you can change the position of the clip on this keyframe. You can either enter other values for the position or change them directly by clicking and dragging on the value.
- You can do the same for scaling the clip. Here you also need to add a keyframe at the beginning and another at the end of the clip and change the values on these.
For complex animations, movements or even explosions, you need the After Effects program belonging to Premiere Pro. Premiere itself is actually only intended for editing and not for animation and compositions.
