Switch Adobe Reader to German - Here's how
After the first installation the Adobe Reader is often in English and you have to change it manually to German. How this works exactly, we reveal in this guide.
Adobe Reader: Set German as the default language
Adobe Reader regularly recognizes your system language during installation and adjusts the user interface. However, this does not work with every installation. In this case the language is set to English and you have to do it yourself.
- Open Adobe Reader and click on "Edit" in the menu bar.
- Then select the "Preferences" sub-item.
- Click on "International" in the new window.
- On the right you can now change the language to "German" next to "Language". Alternatively, select the "Choose on start" option to set the language again each time the program is started.
- Note: This procedure only works with the multilingual version of Adobe Reader. If you still have an old program version that only contains an English user interface, you cannot change the language. In this case, download and install the current Adobe Reader version.
We explain on the next page how to set Adobe Reader as the standard PDF tool.
