Create advent calendar in PowerPoint - so it'll work
Instead of the usual advent calendars, you can use PowerPoint to create a unique copy that can then be refilled and used every year. We show how this works in our following practical tip.
Create Advent Calendar with PowerPoint
For your PowerPoint Advent calendar, first create a folder in which you will later save all the slides and the presentation. It is best to save all files in an older format so that you can use it again later. Follow the steps below.
- Start PowerPoint and select "Layout" under "Start" and then "Empty".
- Then insert a background image that forms the basis for your calendar. This can be, for example, a photo of a winter landscape. You set the picture as a background via "Insert" and "Picture" or "Graphics".
- To simplify the arrangement of the 24 fields, you can select a "grid" via "View".
- Now mark a text field the size of a door and write the "1" into it. Change the font size according to your wishes.
- Use "Start" and "Shape Contour" to place a visible frame around your door.
- Create 23 more doors and place them on your picture depending on your choice.
- Then copy the slide and paste it into a new presentation.
- Mark all doors except for "1" and remove them.
- Here you can fill your first door by inserting a new text field. This can be an image, a link to a YouTube video or a GIF. There are no limits to creativity here. Save the slide individually.
- Do the same for all other 23 doors.
- In the next step, switch back to the advent calendar base and mark the first door.
- Right-click to open the context menu and select "Hyperlink" here.
- Link the calendar to the first slide this way, for the remaining 23 do the same.
- At the end, save your advent calendar as a presentation.
