After Effects: Install plugins - how it works
If you install plugins in After Effects, you can expand the functionality of the program considerably. In this practical tip, we will tell you exactly how to do this so that you can use the extensions immediately.
Install plugins in After Effects
No matter what kind of plugin or effect you want to install in After Effects, the procedure is always the same. But always make sure that the version of the plugin is compatible with your version of After Effects.
- If this is the case, open Windows Explorer with the key combination [Windows] + [E].
- Then navigate to the path "C: \ Program Files \ Adobe \ Adobe After Effects CS (version number) \ Support Files \ Plug-ins \".
- Here you can copy your desired plugins and close the Explorer. The extension is automatically available the next time After Effects is started.
- Insider tip: You can also create individual subfolders within this folder in order to keep an overview of all your plugins.
