Business Tips in Age of Empires 2
Pay attention to the following economic tips to help you build a solid army later.
- Train as many villagers as possible at the start of the game. A villager should build houses right at the beginning. If you have 15-20 busy villagers, you should move up in the near future.
- If you click on the icon to the left below the minimap, you will see the inactive villagers. Check regularly that all villagers are busy.
- First, collect berries for food and kill the animals near the village center. Then build a mill and build fields. Place one villager per field.
- With "New field" you can ensure that fields are automatically renewed in the mill. Make sure you have enough actions on hold at all times to produce food without interruption.
- Also send enough workers to cut down wood so that you have enough raw materials for new fields. A field costs 60 wood.
- As you ascend in the age, there are new upgrades in the village center, market square and other buildings. Research these new technologies to make your settlers work more effectively.
- Minimize settlers' walking paths by building the lumberjack close to the forest and later rebuilding when the forest has been cleared.
- Focus early on stone and gold as these resources are very limited.
- Collect relics with the monks. These bring gold permanently and are particularly popular.
- If you have enough raw materials, you can exchange them for gold and stone in the market.
