Improve aiming - how it works
In this practical tip, we explain how you can significantly improve your so-called "aiming" in first-person shooter games. Follow the game tips below to secure an edge over your opponents.
Aiming in the gaming scene
The English term "aiming" (in German: "aiming") is widespread in the Gaiming scene and was primarily shaped by first-person shooter games such as "Call of Duty", "Counter Strike" and "Battlefield". "Aiming" primarily describes the precision of a shooter in a first person shooter. The rule is: the more precise you are with your weapons, the more opponents you hit with your projectiles and consequently have a higher "aiming". Conversely, you have little "aiming" if you are not accurate with your weapons.
- In many first person shooter games, "aiming" is now part of the player statistics and defines your accuracy with weapons.
- In general, you can use your "aiming" to see how experienced you are in a particular first-person shooter. The longer you play a first person shooter, the more precise you become with your weapons and thus increase your team's chance of victory.
- You can improve your "aiming" through optimal hardware, software settings and training options in video games.
First-person shooter: top tips for your aiming
Follow the instructions below to improve your precision in first-person shooters. Please note that some of these tips are system-dependent and therefore cannot be used across platforms.
- The best way to improve your aiming is with a precision weapon. In many first-person shooters, you have the option of opening a so-called "bot game". "Bots" are computer-controlled opponents on which you can practice your precision excellently. Since bots don't move as complex as experienced, real players, it should be easier for you to hit them with a precision weapon.
- You can also fine-tune your precision in so-called "Aim" or "Only Headshot" servers. These are private servers with real opponents, which you only switch off when you hit a certain part of the body with your precision weapon. Over time, you develop better handling of precision weapons.
- In most first person shooters like "Call of Duty" or "Battlefield" you can fire with your firearms from the hip as well as through a sight. If you want to improve your aiming, always aim at your opponents through the aiming device before you shoot.
- Depending on whether you want to improve your aiming on a console or on the computer, you can minimize the pointer speed and mouse acceleration of your computer mouse or reduce the sensitivity of your gamepad. You can usually edit the sensitivity of your input devices in the game settings. As a computer player, change the mouse settings in the control panel.
- With a gamepad, it is impossible to aim at your console as precisely as a computer player with his mouse. To do this, activate the so-called "Auto-Aim" in the settings of many console titles. This is an optional aiming aid for console gamers, which simplifies your "aiming" considerably.
- As a computer player, you can also improve your aiming with gaming accessories. For example, many gaming mouse pads have a rough surface to make sighting easier. As a console player, you will significantly increase your aiming if you connect a computer mouse instead of the gamepad.
In addition to "aiming", the choice of your weapons is crucial in a battle. In another practical tip we will therefore explain which weapon is advantageous for which map in "Call of Duty Ghosts".
