Airdrop doesn't work - you can do that
With AirDrop you can exchange data between Apple devices. This practical tip shows you what you can do when AirDrop stops working on your iPhone.
AirDrop is not working - you can do it
Make sure that the iOS device is equipped with iOS 7. The device is then compatible with the following devices: iPhone 5 & 6 & 7, iPad Pro, iPad Air 1 & 2, iPad mini and iPod Touch (5th generation and newer). If the recipient is not shown in AirDrop, this can be due to various things. Therefore, check the following settings:
- Make sure you've activated AirDrop. Set "I am visible to" to "Everyone". On a Mac, you can find the AirDrop settings in the Finder in the menu bar. For an iOS device, open the Control Center by swiping up from the bottom of the screen.
- Activate Bluetooth and WiFi on all devices. There should also be no excessive distance between the devices. If AirDrop is still not working, you should deactivate the connections once and then reactivate them.
- In the AirDrop menu you can search for older Macs that are older than from 2012. To do this, click on "Not found the person you want?" and then click "Search for an older Mac".
- Check the security settings. These can also prevent a connection. Select "Security" in the "System Settings". Then go to "Firewall" and then to "Firewall Options". Deactivate the option "Block all incoming connections".
