AirDrop from iPhone to Mac - so it'll work
With AirDrop you can transfer files from iPhone to Mac. In this practical tip you can read which requirements you have to fulfill and how it works.
AirDrop from iPhone to Mac: requirements and preparations
Your iPhone and Mac must meet the following requirements in order to be able to exchange files via AirDrop:
- Both devices must support Bluetooth 4 and have activated this. All Macs from 2012 and all iPhones from iPhone 5 support this function.
- The iPhone must have at least iOS 7 and the Mac OS X Yosemite.
- WLAN must also be activated on both devices.
- On Mac, AirDop becomes active as soon as you select it in the Finder's sidebar. Set the desired visibility here.
- On iPhone, you need to activate AirDrop in the control center. Here, too, you have the choice of who they are visible to.
AirDrop: Exchange files between iPhone and Mac - Here's how
When your devices meet the requirements and are prepared, you can start the file exchange:
- Select a document or photo on the iOS device and tap the Share icon.
- The AirDrop contacts found now appear below the images. Select the person you want.
- On Mac, you will receive a notification upon arrival that allows you to open the received file directly. The files are saved in the download folder.
- Of course, you can also refuse reception on the Mac.
