If you want to retrofit the AirPlay function on your television or music system, this works with a wide variety of adapters. We present you the best options.
Retrofitting AirPlay: There are these options
- TV: If you want to retrofit AirPlay on your TV, an Apple TV is best suited. This is connected to the TV via HDMI cable and can transfer a lot of content from your iOS devices to the TV.
- TV & Music: With an Apple Airport Express for around 80 euros you get a complete router. Even if you don't want to use the router function, you can retrofit AirPlay with it.
- AirPlay adapter: The best and cheapest option is an adapter. This is simply plugged into the socket and connected to your router via WLAN and to your music system via cable. The adapter is now accessible via WLAN and transmits the music directly to your system. The following adapter from D-Link costs around 33 euros.
- Bluetooth adapter: You get away cheaper with a Bluetooth adapter. However, the music quality and the stability of the connection suffer. Inexpensive Bluetooth adapters often only offer a short range of a few meters.
