The AirPods can be charged wirelessly in the case. But what about the case itself? Apple has announced new steps for inductive charging with AirPower.
Charge AirPods wirelessly - currently not yet possible
- The AirPods can be charged when they are in their case. But so far, the case itself can only get new electricity via a cable.
- Apple announced in December 2017 that it would release a second generation of AirPods. It should be able to charge inductively, so it no longer requires a cable. In addition, the case receives a magnetic coil, as is common with other devices.
- So far, Apple has not yet launched the new AirPods. It is now known that Apple has developed the AirPower, a charging mat that can charge Apple devices such as newer iPhones and the 2nd generation AirPods wirelessly.
- A start of sales for Germany is not certain for the wirelessly rechargeable AirPods or for the AirPower charging mat.
