Set up AirPrint - how it works
If you want to print documents from your iPhone, you must first set up AirPrint. We show you how this works in this guide.
Set up AirPrint on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch
- For AirPrint to work, your printer must support Apple technology. An expensive printer is not absolutely necessary for this, but it does require the AirPrint logo.
- Both your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch and your AirPrint-compatible printer must be on the same network.
- For example, open an image in the "Photos" app and tap the button with the forward arrow at the bottom.
- Now select the "Print" option. Activate the correct printer, determine the number of copies and complete the process with the "Print" button.
- Note: You can find the forward arrow in almost every app that can open images or documents. Websites can also be printed out in Safari.
Extensions and alternatives to AirPrint
- If you want to make further settings, the best way to do this is with the Printer Pro app. This allows you to cut the desired print, change the quality and make color adjustments.
- If your printer is not AirPrint compatible, this is not a big problem either. With the free AirPrint Activator you can make almost any printer fit for AirPrint.
- HP offers the ePrint process for its Internet-enabled printers. You will receive your personal email address from HP, which you can use to print. Simply send the desired document to your HP email address. The file is then received by the printer within a few seconds and printed out at home.
In the next practical tip, we will show you how to retrofit your Windows printer with AirPrint.
