Battery discharges when charging - it may be because of that
If the battery discharges from your smartphone, tablet or other electronic device while charging, there can be many small and large problems. We'll show you how to solve it.
First aid: battery discharges when charging
- First switch the device completely off and on again. You can rule out a short-term software problem.
- Disconnect the charging cable from the device and take a look into the charging socket. You can carefully remove dust from the socket with a paper clip. Especially with the iPhone, fluff accumulates here, which hampers correct contact of the charging cable.
- Charge the device in another location as well. If the cell phone or tablet charges to a different socket or a different USB port, there is the supply problem.
- Also try a different USB cable and, if possible, a different power adapter. Broken hardware is the most common cause of problems with loading.
- If you can open your smartphone and remove the battery, a short-term removal can also help. However, switch off the device beforehand and wait a few minutes before reinserting the battery.
Battery discharges when charging - what to do?
- If you still haven't solved the problem, there is a high probability that the battery is damaged. The battery is still charging, but only so weak that the power is consumed faster than it is stored.
- If the device is still under warranty, contact the dealer from whom you purchased the product or contact the manufacturer directly. Outside the warranty, you can replace the battery yourself on many devices, alternatively you can have a cell phone repair carried out. A battery replacement usually costs 30 to 60 euros.
