If Alexa lights up yellow, it means that a notification is waiting for you. We explain what to do now and what Alexa wants to tell you.
Amazon Echo glows yellow - that means the color
In addition to the newly added green light, Alexa can also indicate something specific with a yellow color ring.
- If Alexa's color ring pulsates yellow, it means that you have received a new message. This can be a text or a voice message. The assistant would also like to provide you with information on items ordered from Amazon.
- The prerequisite is, of course, that you have activated the messaging function via the Alexa app or the Alexa website.
- If you want the message to be read or played back, start the function with the command " Alexa, play my messages ". It is also sufficient if you say "Alexa, what have I missed?" ask.
Yellow color ring and message tone - that is behind this combination
The yellow glow can also indicate an Amazon order that is expected to arrive soon. In this case Alexa plays an additional beep.
- Query your notifications, Alexa informs you about the order status of your package and gives the name of the ordered product. Wait for gifts to be ordered, so use caution.
- Alternatively, you can simply deactivate the option to name the product in the settings. We will show you how to edit or completely deactivate the notifications in the next paragraph.
Alexa on the echo: deactivate yellow glow
If the yellow light bothers you and you no longer want to receive notifications, you can simply restrict them or switch them off completely.
- To do this, open the Alexa app on your smartphone and tap the menu button in the top left.
- In the "Settings", select the "Notifications" category.
- In the "Amazon Shopping" area you can simply deactivate all points.
- Alternatively, you can only switch off individual options, for example naming the purchased products.
