Alexa: create routines - how it works
If you create your own routines for Alexa, you can start several actions with just one voice command. We'll show you how to do it step by step.
Alexa: create routines - how it works
If you say "Alexa, start my day", the weather report, traffic situation and news are presented one after the other. If you wish, you can adapt, expand or create these routines yourself:
- Start the Alexa app on your smartphone and select the "Routines" in the top left menu.
- Here you can see all pre-installed routines. Tap the plus symbol in the top right, create your own routine.
- Under "If the following happens", you can record the voice command to start the routine.
- Under "Add an action" you can select several actions and string them together. For example, say "Alexa" followed by the command "Dinner", "Good morning", "Good evening" or "Movie evening". As an action, you can select almost all functions that Alexa otherwise offers.
- The routine is saved using the "Create" button.
- Example: A possible command could be "Alexa, make the house safe". For this routine, you could turn off all lights and the heater and turn on the surveillance camera. When you get back home, you could use "Alexa, I'm at home" to undo all actions.
Alexa: Routines are still a construction site
- Unfortunately, not all Alexa functions currently work with the routines. Spotify, Amazon Prime Music and radio stations cannot be started with a routine.
- Sonos speakers and the Logitech Harmony Hub are also unresponsive. Additionally installed skills are not supported. What will be added in the future is still unclear.
