Alexa doesn't understand me - what to do? These tricks help
Amazon's voice assistant Alexa is pretty practical in itself. But if she doesn't understand the voice input, it can quickly get annoying. This article tells you what to do in this case.
Alexa doesn't understand me - you can do that
The first action you can take is to change the location of the device. Alexa may not be able to hear you well in your current location. Make sure that your Amazon Echo is at least 20 centimeters away from the wall and is not placed on the floor. Microwave ovens and baby monitors can also be sources of interference.
- Make sure that Alexa has a stable connection to the WLAN and check whether your access to the Internet is stable.
- Avoid background noise when speaking to Alexa. Even if the device can actually handle them, in some cases they can cause problems. Even sounds that you no longer consciously perceive are able to disturb the device.
- If you have multiple Alexa devices, it will automatically be decided which voice assistant will process your request. Most of the time, the device that best understands you answers. Choosing the wrong device to answer your questions can cause problems. Then just move closer to the Amazon Echo, which should answer your request.
- Try to make your voice prompts different. You should avoid context-based commands, i.e. instructions in context. You should also try to speak clearly and naturally.
