Alexa: Control WhatsApp and write messages - you need to know that
Controlling with WhatsApp is a very practical idea. We will tell you whether you can let Alexa write your WhatsApp messages and what other skills Alexa has.
Control WhatsApp: Alexa can (officially) not
Alexa can make many everyday tasks easier: The smart assistant creates shopping lists for you, reminds you of appointments and more. But can Alexa also manage WhatsApp messages?
- There is currently no official WhatsApp support for Alexa.
- So to write and read WhatsApp messages, you need your smartphone.
- Only a private developer has published an Alexa skill that makes it possible to dictate WhatsApp messages.
- However, the skill is not officially supported and violates the general terms and conditions of WhatsApp, which could lead to your account being blocked. Installation is also not easy. More information about the Alexa WhatsApp Skill project can be found on GitHub.
- If you don't want to take any chances, you can have your smart assistant read out WhatsApp messages and also send voice messages.
Chat with Alexa: how it works
WhatsApp is not the only messaging service. With Alexa, you have your own internal communication network.
- With Alexa there is the possibility to send push notifications between Alexa users. To do this, both you and the recipient of the message must use the app or the skill push message. You dictate the message for Alexa and can have received messages read to you.
- If you want to chat quickly and conveniently in your household, this works via the drop-in function. If you activate it on several Echo devices, you can quickly communicate with another device in the living room, office or children's room.
