If you want to dispose of your used oil, there are several ways to do this, both environmentally friendly and free of charge. We'll show you how it's done.
Dispose of used oil: Here you can get rid of it without fees
- Anyone who sells oil is also obliged to accept used oil. The easiest way to bring the used oil back to the workshop, hardware store or petrol station where you bought the oil.
- The return is only mandatory if you can show the receipt of the motor oil. If you cannot find the receipt, in many cases it is half as bad. Many sales outlets accept the used oil without a receipt.
- You can also get rid of your used oil at the recycling center. The return is also free of charge, provided that the quantities are normal for households. Depending on the company, the limit is between 5 and 20 liters.
When are there costs for the disposal of waste oil?
- If you can no longer find the proof of purchase, the dealer may charge a fee for disposal. Depending on the dealer and the amount of used oil, the fee is between 5 and 15 euros.
- If there are large amounts of waste oil that are no longer considered normal for the household, you should take the oil to a recycling center. There, the disposal costs are a maximum of 3 euros per liter.
