Hack Amazon Dash Button: How to Rebuild the Dash Button
Usually, the Amazon Dash button should make the ordering process easier as soon as a product is used up. The device can also be hacked and then assigned new functions.
Repurpose the Amazon Dash button - the requirements
It is not easy to equip the Amazon Dash button with other functions. You should bring with you:
- A smartphone with the Amazon app.
- A Windows computer and a virtual machine - Linux or OS X is required for some hacks.
- A WiFi network in which both the computer and the smartphone are located.
- Basic knowledge of the Python programming language is an advantage, although not absolutely necessary, since the scripts can be copied in part.
Set up the dash button for the hack
Before you start to repurpose the dash button, you have to set up the button.
- Open the Amazon app on your smartphone.
- Tap on the three bars in the top left and on the ribbon on "My account".
- Scroll down here to the option "Set up a new device".
- Follow the instructions there until the last step. When selecting a product, you may not select an article, but end the process by clicking on the cross.
