Amazon Echo: Pair and use the remote control
In this practical tip, we will show you how to pair and use the optional Alexa voice remote control with your Amazon Echo or Amazon Echo Dot.
Amazon Echo: Pair and use the remote control
- Open the "Amazon Alexa" app on your smartphone.
- Go to the "Settings" menu and select your Amazon Echo or Echo Dot in the "Devices" area.
- Tap the "Connect device remote control" option to run the pairing wizard.
- If you have not already done so, insert batteries in the remote control.
- Press the play button on your remote control for five seconds.
- Wait for the pairing process to complete successfully. This can take up to 40 seconds, in some cases even a little longer. If successful, Alexa says: "Your remote control has been linked".
- You can now also control your Echo device via the voice remote control and use the respective buttons to change the volume, pause and resume music playback and switch back and forth. Since the remote control also has an integrated microphone, you can also use voice commands: To do this, press the microphone button and speak. The "Alexa" activation command is not necessary.
