How to control your Logitech Harmony Hub with Amazon Echo
The interface between the two devices is the free service IFTTT (IfThisThanThat).
- First you need an IFTTT account.
- Your Amazon Echo and Logitech Harmony accounts must be connected to IFTTT by giving the service approval.
- There is already a pre-made applet for this. It's called "Use Alexa to trigger activities on your Harmony".
- Click the applet to start it. You will then be guided through the setup step by step.
- You then give IFTTT permission to access Amazon Echo and the Logitech Harmony Hub and customize the options that appear.
- Enter a special word that you want to use to access an activity in the Logitech Harmony Hub. For example, this could be "playing" if you are using it.
- Now select your desired activity from the options shown to you.
- To create additional commands, simply create new applets and repeat the steps.
- Say "Alexa trigger [your chosen word]" Amazon Echo sends the command to IFTTT, which in turn forwards the command to your Logitech Harmony Hub for execution.
IFTTT also offers many applets that other users have created for free and are now sharing with the world. We have put together the 25 most popular IFTTT recipes for you.
