Amazon Fire: no WiFi connection - what to do?
If Amazon Fire TV does not establish a WLAN connection, this is either due to the device itself or the router. We'll show you how to solve the problem.
Amazon Fire TV: no WiFi connection - what to do?
- Reset: Disconnect the power cable from the Amazon Fire TV and wait about five seconds. Then plug it back in and try again.
- Router: You can also do the same on your router. This eliminates temporary connection problems between the two devices.
- Reception: For Amazon Fire TV to receive the WLAN signal at all, it must still be within the range of the router. For example, if your smartphone has only one of three reception bars for WiFi at the location of the Fire TV, the connection for the Fire TV is very difficult to obtain. You should also eliminate sources of interference such as other radio devices.
- Connection: The correct connection is made as follows. Select the "Settings" on the start page and choose the "Network" under the "System" category. If your WLAN is not displayed, select "Search again" or enter the data manually via "Add another network".
- LAN: If none of this helps, connect the Amazon Fire TV to your router using a LAN cable. If the connection works, the problem is definitely with the WLAN.
Amazon Fire TV: Requirements for the router
All current routers should meet the following standards. However, problems can arise with older devices.
- Amazon Fire TV supports encryption using WEP, WPA and WPA2.
- The WLAN standards 802.11 n / g / b are supported on the 2.4 GHz frequency. If your router operates at 5 GHz, the 802.11 n / a standard is required.
- If you have hidden your network, the Fire TV cannot find it either. However, you can also enter the router data manually using the manual setup (see first paragraph).
