Amazon Fire TV: move apps to USB stick
If you have a lot of apps on your Amazon Fire TV, you can move some of them to a USB stick. You can find out exactly how this works in this article.
Move apps from Fire TV to USB stick - you have to be aware of that
- Firmware 51.1.5.0 is required to use the new function. If the following instructions do not work, carry out an update.
- Amazon recommends a USB stick with the USB 3.0 standard. However, devices with USB 2.0 are also accepted. However, the Fire TV does not support external hard drives.
- The USB stick requires the FAT32 format. The Fire TV can format the USB stick itself. If there is still important data on the stick, you should first save it on a computer.

- Connect the USB stick to the Amazon Fire TV and switch on the device.
- The USB stick is automatically recognized by the Fire TV. If the file system is wrong, select the "Format USB stick" option.
- Go to "Settings" on the left and select "Manage installed apps" under "Applications".
- Then select the desired tool and choose the option "Transfer to USB stick".
- You can do this with any app you want. The apps can be transferred back to the Fire TV in the same way.
