Amazon Fire TV without Prime - is it worth it?
If you would like to buy an Amazon Fire TV or Fire TV Stick, this is of course also possible without a Prime subscription. We'll tell you whether that really makes sense or isn't worth it.
Use Amazon Fire TV without Prime
- On the Fire TV, you need a Prime subscription primarily to access Prime Video. This includes numerous films and series. Ultimately, however, you only have to do without Amazon's own productions. Because most series and films can also be found at other providers.
- Since many apps can be installed on the Fire TV, you do not have to do without series and films. Netflix, Magine TV, YouTube, ARD and ZDF can be installed free of charge as an app. Providers like Maxdome and Sky Go are at least loaded onto the Fire TV. You don't need a Prime subscription for games either.
- However, other functions such as the "Music" and "Photos" categories are only reserved for Prime subscribers. However, you can stream images and videos from your smartphone to the Fire TV much more easily using AirPlay or the AllConnect app.
- Conclusion: You really won't miss a lot on your Fire TV without Prime. Because there are good alternatives for almost everything.
