Set up Amazon Kindle without WiFi - how it works
Unfortunately, you cannot set up your Kindle without a WiFi connection. The e-book reader can then also be used without an active internet connection. We show how it works.
Kindle: Use e-book readers without WiFi
- If you buy a Kindle using your own Amazon account, it is already registered on the corresponding account. You then do not have to do anything else to register the device.
- If you want to register Kindle on another account, you need a WiFi connection. Tip: Use a friend's WiFi for a short time, a free hotspot in a café or use your smartphone to create a hotspot. In our practical tips, we show you how this works, for example, on the iPhone.
- If you have logged in to the WLAN, tap (on Kindle Paperwhite) in the top right on the symbol with the three dashes and then on "Settings". Select the item "Registration" and confirm with "Unsubscribe".
- Then tap "Sign In" again and choose one of the two options shown - depending on whether you already have an Amazon account or want to register. Enter the requested data and tap on "Login". The Kindle is now registered to the desired Amazon account. From now on, you no longer need a WiFi connection.
- It's best to copy new e-books to Kindle using your PC. To do this, save the books on the computer. Then transfer the files to the "Documents" directory using a USB cable.
- Alternatively, you can also transfer the books to the e-book reader using Caliber.
- Tip: If you do not want to use WLAN, you should put the Kindle into flight mode. Otherwise, the e-book reader continuously reports that it cannot establish an Internet connection.
