Here's what to do if your Amazon account is hacked:
In the worst case, if your account was hacked, this could mean financial damage for you. So, if your Amazon account has been hacked, follow these steps:
- Change password: If you still have access to your account, change the password. Choose a combination of letters, numbers and special characters that is as difficult to guess as possible. If you can no longer access your account, use the "Forgot password" function and have a new password sent to you by email.
- Run a virus scan on all devices you use Amazon with. This is the only way to rule out infection.
- Contact Amazon Support and tell them about the hack.
- Check your orders: have orders been placed that you did not place? If so: Cancel the corresponding orders and check to which address they should be sent. If necessary, contact the respective dealer.
- Contact the police. This is especially true if the attacker has already placed orders.
- In the future, only use secure passwords that cannot be guessed. Never share your password with anyone.
