Stream Amazon Music via AirPlay - Here's how
With Amazon Music, users can listen to unlimited, ad-free music. In this article, we explain how you can also stream Amazon Music via the Apple service AirPlay.
Play Amazon Music via AirPlay
Amazon Music is an Amazon streaming service that lets you listen to unlimited music - even offline. With Apple's AirPlay, you can stream music, videos, photos, podcasts and games from your Apple devices to speakers in multiple rooms or to your TV. Both services have long been considered incompatible - until now.
- The Amazon Music app for iOS offers a new function called "Alexa Cast". This turns the iPhone into a remote control for playing music on Alexa-enabled speakers and on AirPlay systems.
- With "Alexa Cast" you can start playing a song in the Amazon app on the iPhone and redirect it to a compatible speaker. Practical: After starting playback, there is no need for a connection between the speaker and the iPhone. Playback continues on the Alexa Cast speaker even when the smartphone is in flight mode.
- If the iPhone is connected to the network, you can influence the playback at any time, for example by adjusting the volume. You will find the corresponding controls on the lock screen.
Stream over 50 million songs with Amazon Music
- To be able to use "Alexa Cast" in the Amazon Music app, you should make sure that you are using the latest app version.
- When you open the Amazon Music app and play music, the "Alexa Cast" icon is displayed to the right of the play button. There you can select the desired speaker from a list of all available devices. It can be a single speaker or an entire group.
- "Alexa Cast" supports all devices that are Alexa-capable. These include Amazon Echo devices, Sonos or Bose.
- You need a Prime membership to use Amazon Music. The free version offers limited access to the music database. The complete music selection of over 50 million songs is available with Amazon Music Unlimited from 7.99 euros per month.
