Prime customers enjoy the best VOD entertainment on Amazon Prime Video. However, if you have no sound when streaming, this practical tip will tell you what you can do.
No sound when streaming Prime Video - you can do that
Many causes can be responsible for the lack of sound. We have some solutions for you here:
- Incorrect browser settings can be responsible for missing sound. Use a different browser to test this.
- In current browsers, Prime Video uses the computer language HTML5 for video playback. Therefore, your browser should be up to date. Check whether an update is available and install it.
- If you are dependent on an older browser version, Prime Video uses the Silverlight plug-in from Microsoft. The latest version of this must also be installed on your PC for the sound to work.
- When using Silverlight, the video memory may be full and videos may no longer function correctly. To empty it, right-click in the video and select "Silverlight". Then switch to the "App storage" tab and open the corresponding page. Click "Clear" to free up the memory.
Other options if there is no sound output
In the "Control Panel" you will find your sound card in the "Device Manager". There you can find more information about the driver.
- You can download the latest driver directly from the manufacturer, via Windows Update or in our download area for drivers.
- You can test a sound to test that your sound system is working.
- If you don't hear any sound, make sure that the system is correctly connected and switched on.
