Amazon Prime Video: How to switch to Flash player
"Microsoft Silverlight" is often an eyesore for Amazon Prime Video users. Now you can switch to the Flash Player. We'll show you what steps you need to follow to switch from Silverlight to Flash Player.
Use Amazon Prime Video with Flash Player
A big disadvantage of Amazon Instant Video was that you had to rely on Microsoft Silverlight. It was therefore not possible to use it with the Chromecast, a Chromebook or various Linux configurations, for example. Now you can switch to Flash:
- Access the Amazon Instant Video settings from this link.
- Scroll down to Playback Settings and choose Adobe Flash Player. Amazon will automatically save your setting.
- Note that Amazon advises against Flash Player and recommends Silverlight for optimal playback quality. The Flash Player can result in poorer picture quality or connection problems.
- Linux systems are not officially supported by Amazon. It is therefore not guaranteed that the Flash Player will work properly under your Linux configuration.
- Tip: If you are not yet an Amazon video customer, you can test the streaming portal for 30 days free of charge. Click here for the offer.
