Analog and digital: that's the difference
There are differences in technology when transferring files. You can find out exactly what the difference between analog and digital is in this practical tip.
Analog and digital: that's the difference
- An analog signal is usually infinitely variable and can theoretically have an infinite amount of information.
- The digital signal, however, is selected and therefore dependent on the type of observation.
- In other words, analog signals can have more than just unique information. The digital signal has information that can be clearly recognized as such.
- Example: The analog clocks with seconds, hours and minutes hands often provide us with more information when we take a closer look. The pointer can be between two unique numbers. The digital clock, on the other hand, is different: it shows us the exact time with its digital display and we can also read it as such.
- In daily use, however, both digital and analog signals are used. When listening to music, for example, the digital file is converted into analog, audible signals.
