Shutdown of analog cable television: you need to know that
If you should still use the analog cable television, you either have to switch to alternatives or upgrade.
- Newer televisions have already installed the receiver for digital cable television (DVB-C). As a rule, you can see from a small sticker on the TV or a note in the instructions that you have installed a DVB-C module. If you can no longer find your instructions, take a look at the settings of your device: There you should find a hint. If you have already installed this receiver, you do not have to worry about anything.
- Both public and private channels can be received at least until 2022 at no extra charge.
- If your TV does not have a DVB-C module installed, you can retrofit it for 40 to 50 euros.
- Although the sellers may try to make a new contract attractive to you, this is not necessary despite the analogue shutdown.
- The advantages of switching off are faster internet, since the freed-up frequencies should now be available for the internet. In this way, gigabit speeds can be made possible in even more cities, which in turn is useful for video streaming and the like.
