Android 5.0: Custom ROMs for Lollipop - there are
Android 5.0 Lollipop has hardly appeared when the first developers start working on the custom ROMs. We present all versions to you.
Custom Roms for Android 5.0: caution is still required
- With the currently released custom ROMs, you can renounce Google. However, not all features are currently installed, so Android 5.0 is not yet complete.
- Most developers have only released beta or nightly versions. Although these are constantly receiving further updates, they are still largely unstable. If you want to be on the safe side, you should wait a few weeks for a final version.
- Custom ROMs are also available for many older devices: So if you don't have Android 5.0, you don't have to do without Cyanogenmod and Co.
These custom ROMs are available for Android 5.0 Lollipop
- CyanogenMod 12: The most well-known manufacturer for custom ROMs has already announced the first Nightly versions for around 30 devices. At the moment, however, the system is not yet ready for stable daily use. The material design is particularly troublesome for the developers.
- AICP: The Android Ice Cold Project currently supports a little more than 20 devices and is based on the CyanogenMod. Again, these are only nightly versions.
- LiquidSmooth: This series of custom ROMs is not yet well known, but its focus is on speed. Over 50 devices are currently supported in the Nightly versions.
- OmniROM 5: There is currently only one version of the newcomers for the Nexus 7, but this should run stable.
- SlimRoms: The developers have announced the particularly slim Custom-ROM SlimLP. However, there is currently no usable version available for download.
- Paranoid Android 5: Unfortunately, the development of the custom ROM stalled a bit and therefore takes a little longer.
