Android 5 silent mode: Mute smartphone
With Android 5.0 Lollipop the silent mode disappears, your smartphone can only be set to vibrate. This practical tip shows you how to mute your cell phone anyway.
Silent mode under Android 5.0 Lollipop: set interruptions
If you reach the lowest level with the volume buttons, the vibration is still active. To switch them off, you must set the interruptions.
- Press one of the volume buttons.
- Adjust the interruptions below the volume bar. You can choose between "None", "Important" or "All".
- Press "Important" and then the white gear icon.
- You can now specify for which notifications a signal should sound. All others are only shown on the display - without ringing, without vibration.
Alternative to silent mode: Mute smartphone using airplane mode
If you need your smartphone as a watch, alarm clock or for notes without being disturbed by calls or messages, the airplane mode also helps you.
- Swipe the top of your smartphone with two fingers and pull down on the bar.
- Press "Airplane Mode".
- Your Android phone can now continue to be used as an alarm clock, watch and Co. However, calls or messages no longer arrive.
