Android: Place app shortcuts on the home screen
If you want to place newly installed apps as shortcuts on the Android home screen, you can make a simple setting. In the following practical tip, we will show you how it works.
Store new apps as shortcuts on the home screen
If you are tired of scrolling through the app drawer after installing new apps, you can have shortcuts stored on your home screen. That's how it's done:
- Open the Google Play Store on your smartphone.
- Open the side menu on the left and select "Settings".
- Place a checkmark behind "Add symbols to the start screen" in the checkbox.
- You will find newly installed apps on your homescreen immediately after downloading.
Place apps already installed on the homescreen
Of course, you can continue to place your installed apps as a shortcut on the home screen:
- To do this, open the app drawer on your smartphone and search for the desired app.
- If you tap and hold the icon, you will automatically be taken to the home screen.
- There you simply release the app at the desired location to place it.
We will show you in another practical tip how you can permanently add app shortcuts to the notification bar.
