Update Android app: insufficient storage space - what to do?
If you have too little free space on your smartphone, you can no longer update apps. We will show you how to make space again in this case and thus bring your apps up to date.
Move storage-hungry apps to the SD card
If you have not yet inserted an SD card into your smartphone, you can expand your storage space for little money.
- You can then also move apps to the external storage space.
- Assuming your Android smartphone is still running an older Android operating system. As of Android 4.0, you can unfortunately no longer move apps to the SD card in the manner described in the practical tip above.
Android Assistant helps: Create space for Android updates
Download the free "Android Assistant". The app helps you to quickly create new storage space.
- To do this, open the system tool and tap on the "Tools" tab.
- Tap "Clear Cache" and select "Remove All".
- Then you should also "clean up" your system. Here you can also delete browser histories or unnecessary files, for example.
Delete apps, pictures or videos on the android
You can also disconnect from apps that you no longer use. If there is still not enough space for the updates, you can also remove images or videos with a tool such as the "ES File Explorer".
- To do this, tap on "DCIM" and "Camera" in the "ES File Explorer".
- Then highlight the photos and videos you want to delete.
- Finally, tap on "Delete" in the menu bar. Alternatively, you can also remove this data using the gallery app.
If you have a rooted smartphone, you can also completely delete apps like Gmail from your smartphone and thus create more storage space again.
