Android apps keep crashing - it could be because of that
If your Android apps keep crashing on your smartphone, it can be very frustrating and annoying. We'll show you what you can do about it.
Android apps crash: memory full?
First check whether all apps are up to date and whether an update is available for your operating system. If so, install it.
- A reason for crashing Android apps can be full memory. To check this, open the settings of your smartphone. Then select "Apps" and switch to the "Active" tab.
- At the bottom of the screen you can see how much free RAM is still available. If less than 100 Mbytes are free, some applications cannot start and crash.
- In this case, you have to close some applications that require a lot of memory. You can recognize these in the list by the numbers. Mostly, anti-virus or messenger apps consume the most memory.
- To quit the apps, simply tap on the corresponding entry and click on "Quit".
Android apps crash due to full device memory
- Even if the device memory is full, many Android apps crash when starting. To check the free space, open the settings again.
- Click here on the entry "Storage". After some loading time, the free storage space and the respective distribution is displayed. Make sure that your smartphone needs free space on the device memory. If it is full, a free SD card will not help either.
- When the device memory is full, you need to delete some files. The diagram shows you which type of files require the most memory. Click on the entry to delete some files from this category.
Reset Android smartphone
- If both the RAM and the device memory offer enough free space, but many apps still crash, there could be a system error.
- If that doesn't help either, you should reset your smartphone to the factory settings.
- However, remember to create a full backup beforehand.
