A backup of your android can be very useful: you can restore such a system image if there are problems with your smartphone. Various backup options open up for you via app - either with or without root rights. We present both variants to you.
Complete Android backup with root rights
The "Titanium Backup" app is recommended for a complete data backup on your Android smartphone:
- First load the "BusyBox Installer" on your smartphone. Only with this can programs with root rights work properly.
- In the next step install "Titanium Backup".
- In the batch actions (see picture) you can create a complete data backup via the sub-item "Backup". To do this, it is best to select the "All user applications + backup system data" option.
- In the next menu you can exclude individual apps from the backup. After that, all you have to do is click on the green tick in the upper right corner and the backup will begin.
- You can restore the backup later using the batch actions in the "Restore" subitem. Note, however, that there may be problems with the recovery process if you use a different custom ROM than before: After flashing an Android smartphone, system apps from the old ROM can interfere with the new operating system. This can cause performance problems.
Android data backup without root rights
Normal smartphone users are not denied backup either: "My Backup Pro" does its work even without root rights.
- Download "My Backup Pro" from the Play Store. When you start the app for the first time, you must enter your email address and password to back up your data online.
- Click the "New Backup" button to create a new backup. First choose whether you only want to back up applications including media content (photos, music, etc.) or all data.
- You can then determine the storage location: whether locally on the SD card or online using your email account is up to you.
- In the sub-item "My Backups" you can easily restore your backups later.
Additionally: backup of your messages with SMS Backup +
Unfortunately, SMS and call logs are usually excluded from backup. There is the app "SMS Backup +", which synchronizes messages with your Google account.
- Install "SMS Backup +" and log in with your Google account.
- By default, all SMS, MMS and call logs are included in the backup. You can also back up WhatsApp history and your contacts in the "Advanced Settings -> Backup Settings" menu.
- Now go to the "Backup" button in the app interface. You can get your backup right next to it. Simply click on "Recovery".
