If you want to manually install an app on Android, you often get the message "There was a problem parsing the package." This practical tip explains why this message appears and how you can solve the problem.
Package parsing error - you can do that
- The downloaded file may be damaged. Try downloading the app again or downloading it from another source. Alternatively, you can download the application from your PC and then transfer it to your smartphone using a USB cable.
- It is also possible that the app is not compatible with your smartphone or with the Android version running on it. This is usually the cause of the error message. To solve this problem, you can look for a version of the app that is compatible with your device or the Android version. You could also update your Android device.
- Sometimes restarting the device also helps. The device cache is cleared and all active apps are ended.
- Try not to save the app on the SD card, but on the internal storage. In rare cases, a defective memory card can cause problems.
