Many apps get frequent notifications that are just annoying. This practical tip shows you how to turn off notifications on Android.
Android: Turn notifications off / on
There are also apps on Android where notifications appear too often or games display advertisements as notifications. To work around this problem, you can turn off the notifications on your Android smartphone.
- To do this, go to the settings on your smartphone and select "Applications" or "Apps". The name can vary depending on the smartphone.
- Select the app you want to disable notifications from. You usually have to open the "Notifications" category again.
- Here you can completely deactivate the notifications via the slider. Below are several options that you can use to customize and restrict notifications.
- On some devices you will also find a separate "Notifications" item in the settings. There you can define the relevance of individual notifications and thus prioritize different apps.
Edit messages directly on Android
With a little trick, you can switch off the notifications directly without going through the settings app:
- Slightly swipe the desired notification right or left until a gear appears and tap on it.
- Alternatively, you can hold the notification down. Here, however, the selection of options is smaller.
